El Filibusterismo - Chapter 7.58

Enjoy and comments are welcome.

Simoun: The Clock ticks and the hours go by. In just a matter of days the shot will be heard, and, yes, we will return! Not to the womb, not to the grave but to school! June opens up for us in her ambiable bosom the entrace to another academic year! We will return, as in the past 9 year of our lives, to the house of double identities. It's the house of learning and of torture. It's the house of the sweet scents of nightly dreams and the bitter aroma of daily realities. It's the house where the liberals smite open our eyes and where the dictators shut close our hearts. This June, to school we will return!

Basilio: Eh?

Simoun: You don't get it?

Basilio: Yes, I do and I very much realize the importance of school but I cannot imagine why you, Seňor, one who has already finished his studies, talks about going back to school.

Simoun: (Laughs loudly) No, no, no. That's not it. I am going back to school but not to study, rather to teach. You see, I am your new professor in History.

Basilio: WHAT!

Simoun: Why what's the matter?

Basilio: It's, it's, just, I imagine that, beacuse of your plans, you would corrupt my schoolmates. You would ferment in them the rotten ideals of armed revolution. You would only teach them the vice of violence instead of the virtue of peace. You would ruin the youth!

Simoun: Basilio...That's a great idea! You are such as brilliant thinker! Now, why after all these years of traveling, manipulating, and planning, I did not think of that? With you as my right hand man, we will inflame the youth to fight the oppressors! This country will be free much earlier than I expected!

Basilio: (Thinks to himself, Why did I even say that!)
